Cherokee Strikes Sideout Deal With Marshall Field's

Van Nuys, Calif.-based Cherokee Inc. has entered a retail direct-licensing agreement with Marshall Field’s Department Stores to source, produce and sell its Sideout brand for Fall 2003.

“We are pleased to have Marshall Field’s join our other Sideout partners and look forward to the continued growth of Sideout around the world,” said Sideout founder and Cherokee executive vice president Stephen Ascher in a recent press statement.

The Sideout brand has domestic retail partnerships with Mervyn’s of California; Meriden, Conn.-based Bob’s Stores; Toronto-based The Forzani Group; Denver, Colo.-based Outlook Eyewear; and Carson, Calif.- based Palos Verdes Footwear. Last year, the company entered a retail partnership with Otto Versand’s Sport- Scheck in central Europe.

Recently, Cherokee took its Sideout brand to China. Shanghai Bolderway is scheduled to begin in Fall 2003. —Claudia Figueroa
