Quiksilver in China
Huntington Beach, Calif.-based Quiksilver announced it has struck a joint-venture deal with Glorious Sun Enterprises to open retail stores and wholesale distribution of Quiksilver merchandise in China. The surf manufacturer plans to open retail locations in Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong and then launch a wider distribution strategy in China. The current timetable calls for the opening of five to 10 stores in Shanghai by early 2004. Nicolas Giannoli, formerly Quiksilver Europe’s chief operating officer, has been named Quiksilver’s managing director of China. He will be based in Shanghai.
