Workshop NY Bows in New Venue

Workshop NY kicked off its Fall/Winter 2003 show Feb. 22 at a new West Village location. Buyers from Fred Segal Santa Monica, American Rag, Barneys New York, Bergdorf Goodman, Henri Bendel, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom were among the 1,512 attendees.

The three-day show, held at the Metropolitan Pavilion on West 18th Street in New York, featured 56 ready-to-wear and accessories lines from the United States, Canada, France, Spain, Colombia, Italy, India, Taiwan, Finland and Brazil. West Coast exhibitors included Ariane, Dulce, Ilya, Leonello Borghi and My Philosophy by Pietro Ferrante.

Visitors to this season’s show got a preview of Workshop’s virtual trade show on the company’s Web site, www.workshopsalons.com, which featured a dedicated page for each exhibitor with photos and contact information. The show also featured an exhibition of Paul Facchetti’s couture photos from the 1950s.

This was the sixth edition of the show, which grew from the 10-year-old Workshop Salons show in Paris. Workshop NY holds the event every February and September to run concurrently with ENK’s Fashion Coterie.

Workshop NY will hold its next show Sept. 21–23. —Alison A. Nieder
