L.A. Fashion Week Spring '04: Maria Bianca Nero

Deliberately setting her course straight for the Isle of Classic Femininity, Maria Bianca Nero revealed a signature style while navigating familiar waters. A wide range of wearable, timeless dresses characterized her Spring 2004 collection, shown on Oct. 31 at Mercedes-Benz Shows L.A.

Simple shapes in silk and jersey received subtle accents from rhinestones, a hint of tulle, sequins and organza ribbons. A delicate retro touch was revealed in A-line dresses and a black sequined “Sabrina” dress. A generous use of pink characterized the collection, which also included tweed coats, stretch trousers and miniskirts. Other soft pastels—such as mint, aqua and lavender— were also plentiful.

“They’re simple and modern and meant to last,” said the designer of her creations. “I want women to feel glamorous and sophisticated, whether they’re a young prom girl or an executive.”C.M.C.
