Confidence Renewed

The Consumer Confidence Index rebounded to 81.3 in August from 77 in July, according to the Conference Board. In August, the Expectations Index also increased to 94.4 from 86.3 in July, but the Present Situation Index declined to 61.6 from 63 the month before. The New York–based research organization surveys a sample of 5,000 U.S. households and releases its findings monthly.
