L.A. Fashion Week Fall '04: Rami Kashou

Rami Kashou ventured in new directions for the showing of his Fall/Winter 2004 collection on March 30 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City.

Kashou turned out a collection of intricately pieced, constructed looks as well as red carpet–worthy versions of his trademark draped jersey gowns. He said the goal of his collection was to give a variety of women more options for dressing.

The collection melded different periods in a futuristic way, combining the opposites of organic vs. mechanic and masculine vs. feminine with a romantic theme throughout. Key looks included elaborately tailored, pieced suits and dresses; black-and-silver microfiber/wool, rayon jersey and cotton “collaged” cardigans and dresses; and sexy mini-dresses and gowns in draped jersey fabrics with beautiful flouncy ruffles in black, chartreuse, rust and silver. —N.
