New Retail Mart Under Development in Fashion District

A new shopping center for apparel and accessories will add to the retail mix in the Los Angeles Fashion District. Construction will begin next month on the project, to be called 1000 Maple Center.

The 15,000-square-foot center, scheduled to open this fall, will house about 65 shops, each comprising 200 to 900 square feet, said property owners Sina and Wizeman Kangavari. The center is 70 percent leased. Incoming tenants will sell mostly fashion accessories, including jewelry, trimmings and sunglasses.

“This is a relatively new concept for the Fashion District because we will have storefronts and an indoor plaza,” said Sina Kangavari.

The one-story building will be finished in glass and chrome and will feature granite interiors, fountains and rooftop parking. The property will be located on the southeast corner of Olympic Boulevard and Maple Avenue, just east of the Fashion District’s major wholesale marts.
