Textile Tariffs
China announced plans to impose an export tariff on textiles bound for the United States. The tax is China’s response to growing concerns regarding the impact of the elimination of quotas on Chinese-made goods after the beginning of the year, when quotas between World Trade Organization members will disappear. Many in the U.S. textile and apparel industry are anticipating a flood of less-expensive goods from China after Jan. 1.
