Blue Cult Gets Into Tech Fashions

The marriage of fashion and technology continues to gain interest on the manufacturing front. Vernon, Calif.–based denim specialist Blue Cult Inc. recently aligned with the Hewlett-Packard Co. to create a denim- finished limited-edition carryall bag designed to store HP’s digital cameras and compact photo printers. The messenger bag was distributed to celebrities attending Robert Redford’s Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, and was a hit. Stars including Mena Suvari and Andrew Firestone of “The Bachelor” were among those sporting the carryall.

The bags have yet to be released to retail distribution but could be on the burner for a future run, said a Blue Cult spokesperson.

Manufacturers have been increasingly interested in the union of fashion and technology as consumers look for appropriate places to carry Apple iPods, cellular telephones and other electronic devices. —Robert McAllister
