Los Angeles Fashion Week Spring '05: Denim & Diamonds
Judith Ripka and Cotton Inc. presented red carpet–worthy looks during “Denim & Diamonds,” a special event that took place on Oct. 26 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City.
The cocktail reception, held at the Smashbox VIP Lounge, got off to a late start because of a power outage that had affected some of the shows held earlier that day as well as much of Culver City. Organizers, who had planned to have a runway show in the lounge, improvised with a low-key viewing of models showcasing the looks.
The glitzy event highlighted the new “dressed-up denim” movement. Models wore diamonds by Judith Ripka and some of the latest denim styles from Blujeanious, Blue Cult, Chip & Pepper, Earl Jeans, Earnest Sewn, Frankie B., Hudson, J & Co., James Jeans, Joe’s Jeans, Juicy Couture, Lee Vintage, Levi’s Premium, Streets Ahead and Wrangler 47.
The Gran Centenario angels made an appearance, and the liquor company provided special cocktails for the guests.
Celebrities attending the event included Rachel Hunter, Paula Abdul, Sela Ward, Emily VanCamp, Nia Vardalos, Alexis Bledel and Rebecca Gayheart. —N.J.S.
