San Francisco Fashion Week '04: Christina Hurvis Couture

Bridal and eveningwear designer Christina Hurvis wowed the crowd with a dramatic red slip dress in satin-back crepe, and her cocktail-length satin dress in caramel, aubergine and red was also a clear favorite. A white Jean Harlow satin gown received a gasp from the audience, and a white chiffon number echoed Marilyn Monroe’s subway-grate dress from “The Seven Year Itch.” Hurvis diverged from the form-fitting silhouettes with a Grecian-style empire-waist gown bearing a top-stitched bodice and a full floor-length skirt. —Alison N.
