L.A. Fashion Week Fall '05: Sheri Bodell

Rock ’n’ roll was on Sheri Bodell’s mind when she debuted her Fall 2005 collection March 19 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City. Her inspiration this season was the muse behind the musician.

“In general, I am inspired by rock ’n’ roll,” said Bodell, who launched her line five years ago after developing the young contemporary label She by Sheri Bodell. “The woman who inspires rock musicians is the look we were going for this season.”

Bodell is fond of using embellishments in her sleek and versatile creations, which can be donned for dinner or worn at a rock concert. This season, her styles were heavy on studs that graced waistbands, hems and camisoles.

The designer is also partial to adding touches of fur and leather to her collection. In her latest designs, rabbit and fox fur showed up on collars, necklines and cuffs. A peach rabbit-fur coat with studded trim was particularly glamorous.

Blacks, browns, plums, sages and dusty roses dominated the collection. Silhouettes included lean-cut trousers, tuxedo trousers, Victorian jackets and halter dresses. —Deborah Belgum
