eWarna Develops Color Indexing Tool

Malaysian color systems specialist eWarna Ltd. has released a new Web-based color indexing system aimed at providing large-scale, automated color cross-referencing services.

The Color Indexer is an add-on module to eWarna’s LabWorks Pro online color management system. The product was designed for standards companies, which provide color reference palettes to apparel designers. By automating the “swatch-and-go” process of indexing and picking colors, the tool can reduce human error significantly and enhance productivity, said eWarna’s Faizal Hussein, director of product development.

“It takes an operator at least one minute to locate a best match for a color from a database of 4,000 colors and transcribe that result on a spreadsheet,” Hussein said. “This translates to up to 20 working days for three full-time personnel working round the clock on three shifts to cross-reference 2,000 colors against 4,000 searchable colors under 10 different illuminants.”

Hussein said the process can be completed in a few hours using the Color Indexer. For more information, visit www.ewarna.com. —Robert McAllister
