MODAC Sets Fund-Raising Gala

The Museum of Fashion Designers and Creators (MODAC) has rescheduled its fund-raising gala. The event will now take place from 4 p.m. until midnight on Oct. 29 at the Beverly Hills City Hall gallery and Palm Court.

The event will benefit the organization, which is seeking a permanent home for thousands of pieces of vintage and historical garments and memorabilia.

MODAC founder Irene Kasmer said the gala will feature a “Poem Dress” competition, which will award a $1,000 scholarship to the winning entry. The contest is open to art and design school students. Local designers, educators and fashion press will conduct the judging.

“The museum strives to educate and inspire the next generations, to create jobs and retain jobs for the future of America, the state of California and especially Los Angeles, which is the No. 1 employer with our fashion industry,” Kasmer said.
