Studio 908

The New Mart Suite 908 (213) 627-5256

Rosetta Sweet-Anderson and her business partner, Candice Jenkins, were just two of the showroom owners making a good living selling juniors apparel on the ninth floor of The New Mart.

Then last year, the floor’s showrooms started trending toward contemporary clothing. So the partners decided to make a change at their Studio 908 showroom, which was heavy on juniors lines and light on contemporary fashions.

To make the change, they added two representatives to sell contemporary lines. In January, Rachel A. Stanford began representing Teenage Millionaire, a Hollywood line famous for its T-shirts with sayings such as “Jesus Is My Homeboy.” While Teenage Millionaire has concentrated on T-shirts, it also plans to introduce a contemporary shirt group at the Pool Trade Show in Las Vegas in late August. The new collection will feature cheeky graphics and new treatments that give polos and T-shirts a worn, sheer look. Basic T-shirts will wholesale for $14, and the contemporary group will wholesale from $14 to $22.

Stanford also reps contemporary lines Pink Spice and Nissi.

In early August, Amanda Ezra joined the showroom as a new sales rep. Ezra is taking on a new line called Serenity Jeans, whose denim pants are assembled in California from Spanish-made denim. The jeans, which feature everything from greased, worn washes to detailed embroidery to studs and Swarovski crystals, wholesale for $67.

Ezra will preview the line at the Los Angeles Fashion Market and will introduce it at the Pool Trade Show. She also reps Lure and Pink Paparazzi.

Sweet-Anderson and Jenkins represent Outlaw, a Los Angeles label that features tattoo-style graphics; Love Child in the City of Angels; and BC Ethic’s young contemporary collection, Blue Collar Girl.
