Los Angeles–based apparel manufacturers Von Dutch Originals LLC and Seven Licensing Co. announced they have implemented Glendale, Calif.–based Murphy & Associates’ ApparelMagic business management software.

Von Dutch and Seven are using the product to manage business processes from the design to delivery stages. Those include order management, electronic data interchange, sales, accounting and inventory control.

“Both of these companies are in aggressive modes of growth. They’ve got more interdepartmental communications going on than your average company and need to get questions answered right away, like where a certain fabric is located or when a particular due date is,” said ApparelMagic President John Murphy.

Von Dutch Chief Operating Officer Scott Luirette said his company’s rapid growth demands technology that can address quick turns. “We needed a robust software application that could handle multiple operations and help take us to the next level,” he said.

Peter Akariagian, chief operating officer of Seven, said his company needs an industryspecific solution with detailed reporting capabilities.

Seven markets Seven7 denim and sportswear, which is sold through The Limited and other retail channels. Von Dutch is known for its T-shirts and sportswear, borne from its founder’s immersion in the motorcycle and hot-rod culture.

ApparelMagic is used by a number of domestic and international apparel brands, including Rock & Republic, Obey, Mulberribush, Sue Wong and Monique Lhuillier.

“We have a deep understanding of how apparel companies do business. For these implementations, for example, we spent hours with the pre-production teams developing an understanding of how they work, what they need to get the job done in every aspect of business, what type of graphics they need on their line sheets and how intensive they are in building their lines.”
