MAGIC Adds Bling to WWDMAGIC

MAGIC International will expand its jewelry resources in February with the addition of MODEUROPE, a new fashion jewelry show featuring product from Europe. “This will be the first time many of these exhibitors show in the United States,” said Camille Candella, MAGIC’s marketing director. The show will bow with MAGIC Marketplace Feb. 21–24.

MODEUROPE will share space in the Las Vegas Hilton alongside the Jewelry Marketplace by JCK during WWDMAGIC’s Accessories at the Hilton. MODEUROPE and the Jewelry Marketplace by JCK are produced by Reed Exhibitions.

“We anticipate approximately 60 new exhibitors will participate in MODEUROPE,” Candella said, bringing the total area of the accessories show to 15,000 square feet.

Interest from buyers and exhibitors precipitated the addition to the show’s accessories offerings. “Our customers want this,” Candella said, noting that buyers have increased their accessories purchases by 20 percent since 2003. She also pointed to a recent attendee survey that showed 51 percent of respondents indicated that they either currently carry or plan to purchase jewelry in the next few seasons for their store.

“We are enormously encouraged by the positive response from our European customers to participate in MAGIC,” Greg Topalian, Reed’s group vice president, said in a statement. “There is a very strong interest to penetrate the U.S. fashion market and MAGIC is the ultimate marketplace to achieve that goal. —Erin Barajas
