Diane's Rwandan Partnership

New York–based designer Diane von Furstenberg will carry exclusively designed scarves by women from Rwanda at her flagship store at 385 W. 12th St. in New York. The limited-edition mohair scarves were knitted by members of the Avega association, which assists the Rwandan people who were affected by the 1994 genocide. Each scarf will be packaged in a basket woven by members of the EDImports cooperative, which finds markets for traditional handcrafted products and assists its members in achieving economic sustainability. Von Furstenberg visited Rwanda last year with husband Barry Diller.
