Gerber Updates Cutting Systems Software

Tolland, Conn.–based Gerber Technology Inc. has released version 5.1 of its CutWorks production software, which drives most of the company’s leather, single-ply and multi-ply cutting machines.

The update improves functionality on a number of fronts, Gerber executives said. For one, it allows users to import markers from the company’s AccuMark system directly into Cut- Works. Improvements have been made to reduce hide-marking time, consumable marking materials and automatic nesting time. There’s also dynamic work-order queuing and a “print kit groups feature” that creates color printouts of kitting groups for easier part identification, faster and more accurate part bundling and kitting, and improved error and service logging.

Version 5.1 also provides managers with production output data and nesting yields. The system calculates total hide area, enabling manufacturers to compare the system’s scanned hide area with the area reported by the supplier. CutWorks operates on Taurus XM and XD leather cutters; DCS 1500, 2500 and 3500 single-ply machines; and multi-ply Gerber cutters.
