TALA's 60th Annual Holiday Party

The Textile Association of Los Angeles threw its 60th consecutive Christmas party for neighborhood children on Dec. 17 at the California Market Center.

TALA members hosted about 100 children from the El Nido Family Center, the Salesian Boys & Girl Club, the Boys & Girls Club of Los Angeles, the Chinatown Service Center and the East Los Angeles Boys & Girls Club.

Under the direction of committee chair and TALA board member Fran Sude, the organization collected donations from several showrooms and representatives in the CMC. Sullivan Inc. donated a fully decorated Christmas tree, and Russ Berrie, Mickey Lang and Roger Wilson donated toys. Food was provided by Trimana, Summitt Catering, Shelley Zitner, Sude, Nemco Food Products and California Supply. Additional funds were raised from TALA members and people in the industry.

TALA President Hal Kaltman acknowledged the contributions of CMC executives. “The management and staff of the CMC were very important in helping pull this off,” he said.

The children enjoyed holiday treats and a visit from Santa (a.k.a. Major Textiles’ Michael Goldman). TALA also made a cash donation to each of the children’s organizations.
