D&A Adds Arts Program to L.A., N.Y.

New York’s Designers & Agents said it will expand its 1-year-old creative artist exchange program.

The exchange program will select, twice a year, one American artist and two Japanese artists to visit the other countries where D&A trade events are held. The American artist will travel to the D&A Lab show in Japan. One Japanese artist will go to the New York show, while the other will head to the Los Angeles show.

The expansion follows what D&A called the positive response to Saori Kanda, who is influenced by traditional Japanese tattoo art, and Teppei Nakano, who makes large-scale watercolor and acrylic paintings, in Japan and New York in 2004.

Each participant will receive an all-expenses-paid trip and a $1,000 award. D&A co-founders Barbara Kramer and Ed Mandelbaum will be part of the judging panel. Interested artists can submit entries through www.designersandagents.com.
