Jenks Joins Body Glove

Rays Apparel Inc. named a second-generation action-sports apparel executive as general merchandise manager for its recently acquired license from Body Glove International.

Irvine, Calif.–based Rays said Junior Jenks—the son of Jim Jenks, the founder of Ocean Pacific’s apparel line—will assume the position of general merchandise manager for Body Glove men’s sportswear. Earlier this year, Rays acquired the license to design, manufacture, market and distribute Body Glove–branded sportswear and swimwear for young men’s as well as a juniors line, all of which are bowing for Spring 2006. Redondo Beach, Calif.–based Body Glove is launching a full sportswear collection after an approximate 10-year absence.

Junior Jenks, who began his career designing swimwear for Op 26 years ago, previously was general merchandiser for Rays’ license for Op young menswear. The license for Op expires at the end of 2005, on the heels of Warnaco Group Inc.’s acquisition last year of the surf-lifestyle label. Jenks also had designed private-label brands for retailer Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. and served as merchandise manager for Rusty apparel.

Rays will launch Body Glove’s sportswear line, along with the juniors collection, in August at the Pool Trade Show in Las Vegas.
