West Coast Resources Lead Pack for Dallas Fashion Awards

BCBG Max Azria, Emil Rutenburg, Blue Cult, Joe’s Jeans and True Religion are among the West Coast–based finalists that will be up for honors during the 30th annual Dallas Fashion Awards, to be held Oct. 29 in Dallas.

The companies were recognized for their leadership in retail performance, design innovation and workmanship. A committee of fashion editors, trend experts, retailers and representatives from industry associations nominated the finalists across eight categories. Retailers attending upcoming Dallas markets will vote for the winners.

In addition, a Fashion Excellence award will be announced at a later date, along with the Best of Men’s and Best of Scene winners.

West Coast resources will once again be well represented. Los Angeles–based BCBG Max Azria and Joystick are among the finalists in the contemporary category, along with Diane von Furstenberg. Emil Rutenberg of Los Angeles is vying for top bridge/designer resource with Alberto Makali and DeSentino. Los Angeles’ Blue Cult, Joe’s Jeans and True Religion are heading up the denim category, while Richmond, Calif.–based Le Top and Orange County–based Cach Cach are finalists in the children’s category, along with Za Za Couture.

Other finalists include Chetta B., Demetrios and Gilar (for after five); Hobo, Helen Kaminski and Michael Simon (for accessories); Bentley, Tribal and Elliott Lauren (for modern apparel); and Barse, Deborah Grivas Designs and Dian Malouf (for jewelry).

Retailers may either vote onsite during the Women’s & Children’s Apparel & Accessories Market in Dallas, which will run Aug. 18–21, or they may download a ballot from www.dallasmarketcenter.com. Votes will be accepted through Sept. 9.

The winners will be revealed during the Dallas Fashion Awards gala, which will take place in the Great Hall of 2350 Stemmons, the former International Apparel Mart. Tickets for the event are $135; tables of eight cost $1,000. For ticket information, contact Daniella Giglio at (214) 672-8420.
