Massachusetts Company to Acquire Aptavis

Needham, Mass.–based technology company PTC said it will acquire Nashua, N.H.–based Aptavis Technologies Corp. for an undisclosed sum. Both companies develop product data management (PDM) and product lifecycle management (PLM) software for the apparel industry and related markets.

Company officials said they signed a definitive agreement to acquire Aptavis and should finalize the transaction by the end of the month. Aptavis uses PTC’s Windchill-based technology, a Web-centric PLM engine, for its out-of-the-box PDM product. PTC has distributed Aptavis’ product since 2002.

“The Windchill-based solution from Aptavis is a natural fit as we make true enterprise PLM a reality for the first time in this industry,” said Jim Heppelmann, PTC’s executive vice president and chief product officer.

The tasks the product handles include seasonal calendar management, line board management, product specifications management, materials management, color management, sourcing, costing, quality control and vendor collaboration.
