Blue Platypus Launches E-Commerce Site

South Pasadena, Calif.–based Blue Platypus, maker of men’s and women’s casualwear, has launched a new e-commerce Web site at www.blue-platypus.com.

The site, launched about one month ago, showcases about 20 to 30 styles of vintage-inspired, embellished T-shirts and accessories. The shirts are priced at $27 and up and feature designs such as Chinese zodiac symbols, retro graphics and other themes with discharge finishes, stones and flocked embellishments. The company also sells to the trade at price points starting at $12, said designer Heidi Oberschmidt.

“We’ve gotten some visibility. We’re ’This Week’s Pick’ on thriftychick.com,” she said.

The company is expanding its Fall line with more outerwear items. All of its products are made in California. The Web site was designed by Los Angeles–based Westside Web and is hosted by www.movieeye.com. —Robert McAllister
