EDI Expert Mueller to Present FBI Seminar

EDI expert Cathy Mueller of the Los Angeles–based EDI Center will present a class on the fundamentals of Electronic Data Interchange on Nov. 5 at the Fashion Business Inc. Resource Center in Los Angeles.

EDI is the electronic exchange of UPC codes and other communications between a manufacturer and retailer. Many retailers require manufacturers to be EDI-compliant. The all-day class will cover terminology, industry standards, ship notice and bar-code uses, charge-backs, documents, RFID (radio frequency identification) and other emerging technologies.

Mueller is a noted authority on EDI, having developed credit authorization systems that have been used by such retail giants as Federated Department Stores and The May Co. She founded The EDI Connection, a longtime service bureau for the industry, which eventually was sold to QRS Corp. She currently is a principal with the EDI Center, a support and educational group.

The class is presented in conjunction with FBI and AIMS Apparel Information Management Software.

Registration fees are $295 for FBI/AIMS members and $380 for standard registration. For more information, contact FBI at (213) 892-1669 or AIMS at (213) 629-2780. —Robert McAllister
