San Francisco Fashion Week '05: Saffron Rare Threads
Java, eggplant and olive were the primary colors in Saffron Rare Threads’ Fall 2005 collection. Designers Priya Saraswati and Yugala Priti took their cues from femme fatales such as Lauren Bacall and Ava Gardner. Tailored looks thrived in what Saraswati called “The Travel Collection.” A tailored wool gabardine blazer, matching wool trousers and a lavender silk charmeuse blouse formed a bold, elegant ensemble. The designers combinSan Francisco Fashion Week ’05: ed tailored looks with softer pieces, as was the case with an olive micro- Modal off-the-shoulder top paired with a wool gabardine wide-leg trouser. A brown wool and tweed cape, punctuated by silk charmeuse scarves, was a nod to minimalist fashion’s latest incarnation.
