LF Fashion Show Rings In the '80s

The future could be bright, well accessorized and very 1980s, according to the fashion forecast at the LF boutique on Robertson Boulevard in Los Angeles.

The boutique held a 33-look fashion show March 30, featuring garments from the company’s exclusive vendors and some of its private-label denim and basic T-shirts.

The inspiration for the show might have hailed from two decades ago, said another LF designer, Heather Shrake.

“It’s the traditional look of punk with a feminine twist,” she said.

Not all of the show’s looks were meant to be taken in a 1980s spirit. LF debuted two denim lines for Spring 2006: its skinny jeans line Court Street and tapered jeans line Main Street. The price points of the denim range from $136 to $170. Basics from private-label line LF and U.K.–based Emma And Sam retail from $36 to $68.

Los Angeles–based LF initially manufactured sportswear and started its retail division in 2004. The company’s boutiques are in Santa Monica, Calif., New York’s SoHo district and Greenwich, Conn.

Company President Laurie Furst stressed that speed and exclusivity would distinguish his retail chain.

“I have no idea of what I’m going to find,” he said of vendors offering that elusive “must-buy” quality. “But I’ll find it.” —Andrew Asch
