Coldwater Creek Goes Green

Sandpoint, Idaho-based catalog, e-tail and bricks-and-mortar retailer Coldwater Creek announced plans to go green at its corporate headquarters, distribution center, customer contact centers and retail stores. The company will offset 100 percent of its energy consumption with renewable energy certificates over the next three years. Among the initiatives: Coldwater Creek will buy more than 217,000 megawatt-hours of wind-generated electricity over the next three years as part of a partnership with 3 Phases Energy Services LLC. The retailer will purchase renewable energy certificates, which represent wind power that is added to the power grid by renewable energy producers. The certificates are independently monitored and verified by the nonprofit group Center for Resource Solutions.
