Sub-Urban Gets Airport-Area HQ

Los Angeles–based Sub-Urban Brands Inc., marketers of Whiteboy and other young contemporary brands, will relocate its corporate headquarters from downtown Los Angeles to the city’s Westchester district near Los Angeles International Airport.

The move more than doubles the company’s current space and allows for expanded design, sample and production space. The company distributes Whiteboy, as well as Girl, Mash Culture Lab, Black Jesus and Pretty Young Thing. The lines are sold in such stores as Fred Segal, Dr. Jays and Virgin Megastores.

“The move will enable us to increase the pace of our new brand development and design programs and build on the success we’ve generated so far,” Chief Executive Officer Joseph Shortal said in a statement. “Every inch of this new space will be used to expand operations and to promote Sub-Urban’s reach in the worldwide youth fashion market.”

Shortal added that within the next 18 months, the company intends to expand its brand offerings through global distribution networks in Japan, Canada, Australia and 25 European markets. —Robert McAllister
