Christy's Crown Series

HEAD OF THE CLASS: Dorfman Pacific expands its reach in the headwear market with the launch of Christy’s Crown Series, a license of the classic British headwear brand Christy’s of London.

Dorfman Pacific’s catalog is deep in traditional straw hats, wool felt hats, knit beanies, cowboy styles and headwear licenses for Toby Keith, Stacy Adams, Cubavera and Indiana Jones. The new Christy’s Crown Series is a jump into a more fashionable direction for the company.

“What we want to do with Crown Series is make it more of a hip line,” said Todd Gardner, vice president of merchandising for Stockton, Calif.–based Dorfman Pacific. “[Crown Series is] more fashion-forward products as opposed to the regular Christy’s line that we sell, which I’m going to call more traditional products.”

Christy’s Crown Series puts a fashion spin on some of the classic shapes of newsboy caps, fedoras and military caps, with funky fabrics and treatments. The line has been sold to stores such as Urban Outfitters. —Rhea CortadoKEY LOOKS: Newsboy caps and fedoras are updated in plaid and woven toyo for men.
