Tyte Hires l.e.i. Exec

Los Angeles–based manufacturer 4 Whatitsworth Inc., manufacturer of Tyte Jeans, Duplex, Beau Dawson and World Academy, has hired Peter Caminiti as president of sales.

Caminiti previously held the same position with junior bottoms label l.e.i., which was purchased by New York–based Jones New York in 2002. Caminiti was with the company for 10 years, including two years after the acquisition.

Alden Halpern, chief executive officer of 4 Whatitsworth, will continue to head up the company’s design and manufacturing operations.

Halpern and Caminiti worked together in sales in the late 1980s at New York–based Breaker Jeans. Halpern served as president of the company for two years, before moving to Los Angeles to launch 4 Whatitsworth in 1993. The company launched Tyte in 1999. The brand is on track to reach $90 million in sales for 2006, excluding its licensees in outerwear, sweaters, knit tops, kids, and handbags and small leather goods.

The company operates showrooms in New York and Los Angeles and has offices in Shanghai.
