Halsea: Style on the Go

TRAVEL: Many women travel for work more than for play, but designer Sally Bartz said she hopes that her festively printed luggage will “make you feel like you’re going on vacation” to Cabo San Lucas or Palm Springs instead of a business trip.

Bartz has had plenty of experience designing lighthearted printed accessories. She briefly designed accessories at Paul Frank Industries and developed Hawaiian-style floral printed luggage for Roxy when she was a designer for the company’s accessories division.

For her Newport Beach, Calif.–based line, Halsea, Bartz said she was influenced by “California preppy” and an “old school beach vibe” for the summery colors and original shell-print design. The line has been picked up by contemporary boutique Milk in Los Angeles and 5 Seas on Balboa Island, Calif.

KEY LOOKS: A tennis racket cover in laminated printed canvas with leather trim, a roller suitcase lined in satin, a weekend bag with cotton webbing straps and shoulder tote sized to fit magazines, beach towels or a laptop.

WHOLESALE PRICE POINTS: $25 for a cosmetics bag to $145 for a roller suitcase.
