Nordstrom's Art Exhibition

Seattle-based specialty store Nordstrom will feature a photography exhibition by Kamoinge, a group of African American photographers, in celebration of Black History Month. The photos focus on “life and culture as expressed through fashion over the past 40 years.” The art show will be featured in several Nordstrom stores and on the company Web site, www.nordstrom.com, throughout the month of February. The New York–based photographers collective, whose work has been featured in books and museum exhibitions, is named for the Swahili word meaning “a group of people acting together” and was founded in 1963. The Nordstrom exhibition will feature 12 photographers, including Salimah Ali, Anthony Barboza, Mark Lee Blackshear, Adger Cowans, Gerald Cyrus, Russell K. Frederick, John Pinderhughes, Herbert Randall, Radcliffe Roye, Jamel Shabazz, Ming Smith and Shawn Walker. The photos will be on display at Nordstrom stores at the San Francisco Centre; Arden Fair in Sacramento, Calif.; Fashion Valley in San Diego; Park Meadows in Littleton, Colo.; in King of Prussia, Pa.; on Michigan Avenue in Chicago; Circle Center in Indianapolis; Southpoint in Durham, N.C.; Dallas Galleria in Dallas; Perimeter Mall in Atlanta; Pentagon in Arlington, Va.; Lloyd Center in Portland, Ore.; and at Southcenter and downtown Seattle in Seattle.
