EM Productions has built a reputation as one of the must-see resources for emerging fashion from the West Coast, supplying retailers with collections from Grey Ant, Madley and Rami Kashou, among others. But sometimes overlooked among the plethora of hot labels are unique jewelry and accessory pieces.

Like the clothing, they speak to style more than bling and overstatement.

“We try to be true to individual tastes rather than trends here,” showroom owner Lisa Elliot said. “Each designer has his or her own identity and visual concept.”

Oakland designer Lila Rice Marshall’s Round Designs, for example, highlight natural materials with a feminine yet modern style. Her earrings are made of African hardwoods in a variety of shapes and sizes, including discs, hoops and “fiddlesticks.” Prices are $48–$112.

Another line, Lisa Levine Designs, also incorporates natural elements but with a more hip and modern flair. Brooklyn-based Levine handcrafts chains, earrings and pins with gold, copper and silver, sometimes braided together and in varying lengths for layering effects.

The line is priced at $95–$300.

EM also carries Coryn Madley’s accessories collection, featuring one-of-a-kind necklaces adorned with lockets, geodesic stones and other items. Madley crafts each piece from her own collection of flea-market and antique goods, giving it a vintage flavor.

“Each piece makes you look like you’re wearing lots of jewelry,” Elliot said. The line is priced at $100–$200.

Other offerings include clothing designer Kimberly Faith’s jewelry line featuring gold-filled earrings and necklaces priced at $16–$60, and Mike & Chris’ leather and canvas handbags with African-print linings, $268–$300. —Robert McAllister
