Indra Snapped Up by Competitor

San Diego–based Indra Technology Inc., which markets Escape sales-order management software for apparel manufacturers, has been purchased by rival firm CenterStone Technologies Inc. of Denver for an undisclosed sum.

CenterStone markets iVendix, a Web-based sales-order management software system. Its clients include surf- and outdoor-apparel makers Rip Curl, Billabong, North Face and Pearl Izumi. Indra’s clients include VF Imagewear, Perry Ellis International, Spalding Sports and several golf-industry vendors. Both products allow sales representatives to work from the field using remote sales-management systems.

Tom Detmer, chief executive officer of CenterStone, said the acquisition would help the company to further its inroads in the embroidered-apparel business and the golf market, two areas where Indra has excelled.

CenterStone plans to merge the two technologies to create stronger features. CenterStone, for example, is offered in five languages, and that feature is expected to be carried over to the Indra product, said CenterStone spokeswoman Patricia Smith.

Detmer estimates that the combined applications should process more than $1 billion in sales in the next year. —Robert McAllister
