Gap Aligns With IBM

San Francisco–based Gap Inc. has struck a 10-year, $1.1 billion contract with IBM to provide it with its IT infrastructure, consisting of mainframe computers, servers and network systems as well as helpdesk support for its 2,850 North American stores.

All stores will be connected by a wireless network. IBM will also provide additional global operations and support.

Gap will have access to an IBM Innovation Center, which gives the retailer access to expertise from various areas within IBM and IBM knowledge of the retail and other industries.
