Miami Runway Report: Inca

New York–based designer Stephanie Hirsch added men’s swimwear to her line of Inca swimwear, which was featured on the Miami Beach runway July 15. Strutting alongside their female counterparts, male models showcased swim shorts that featured skimpy European cuts and colors to match Hirsch’s earthy-sexy line of women’s swimwear.

Using a palette of dusky pink, rich brown, midnight blue, creamy yellow and sage green, Hirsch evoked a desert oasis more than a tropical retreat. Swirling turquoise, pink and gold embellishments, beading, and embroidery added an ethnic, handmade quality to the line. Prints, which dominated many of the other runway offerings, were kept to a minimum. Faded and tone-on-tone stripes added a nautical flavor to the line. Hirsch also sent a variety of resortwear coverups down the runway. Cinched chiffon tunics, sheer wraps, banded chiffon pullovers, cotton pants and skirts worked as versatile pieces to take the Inca girl from the pool to the lounge. —Erin Barajas
