Colorful, Intricate Bray Steve Alan Debuts in U.S.

Italian fashion label Bray Steve Alan made its American retail debut recently with its own store, Bray Suite Anthology, at the Sunset Plaza in Los Angeles.

Co-owner Sandrine De Araujo said the clothes are designed for someone who would love the feel of python-skin boots on their feet.

“Not everybody has the guts to wear it,” De Araujo guaranteed.

Bray Steve Alan could appeal to people who love the colorful-butsometimes- wild looks of other Italian labels such as Roberto Cavalli and Dolce & Gabbana. But De Araujo said that her label states its own case.

A heavy sense of detail differentiates Bray Steve Alan’s jeans, Tshirts and suits. Men’s T-shirts are adorned with everything from pearls to heavy stitching. They can retail for $145. Women’s jeans retail from $300 to $400 and are covered with studs and intricate patchwork.

The 2,600-square-foot store sells python- and crocodile-skin shoes manufactured by Italian footwear labels Gianmarco Lorenzi and Orooro.

The Bray Steve Alan label was started four years ago by the Bologna, Italy–-based Einstein Group. De Araujo and label partners Manuel De Araujo and Eric Weber plan to build more than five stores in the United States in the next few years. —Andrew Asch
