Rodeo Fetes Costume Design

The Rodeo Drive Committee and the city of Beverly Hills honored three costume designers whose work has been frequently nominated for Academy Awards with a gala celebration Feb. 28. Veteran costume designer Milena Canonero, pictured with “Capote” director Bennett Miller, was presented with a Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Award for her Oscar-winning work on films such as “Barry Lyndon” (1975) and “Chariots of Fire” (1982). James Acheson also received the award for his Oscar-nominated work on the 1988 film “Dangerous Liaisons.” A posthumous award was given to Edith Head. She was nominated for 35 Oscars, including a win for 1973’s “The Sting.” Along with trophies, the costume designers also were honored with plaques that will be laid on Rodeo Drive. On Oct. 8, the Rodeo Drive Committee will give another Walk of Style Award to Salvatore Ferragamo. The committee is aiming to make the awards a biannual event, said a group spokeswoman. —Andrew Asch
