Paradox Paradis: New Take on Old Hollywood

A gala event worthy of Old Hollywood will be the official launch of Paradox Paradis, a new evening and ready-to-wear line by Darin Humecki and Scott Nassani.

The pair designed a collection inspired by “The Great Gatsby” for the upcoming Patron Gala, which will benefit the historic Virginia Robinson Gardens in Beverly Hills. The annual event pays homage to the lavish parties thrown by Virginia Robinson, wife of Robinson Stores founder Henri Robinson, in the days of Old Hollywood.

Humecki and Nassani presented four evening gowns and sketches of the collection to prospective clients at the Robinson estate on March 14 and 15, where women who will be attending the gala were able to view the collection and schedule appointments for made-to-order evening gowns to wear to the upcoming event. The designers are donating 20 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the gowns to the Friends of Robinson Gardens to the restoration and continuing operations of the estate.

Humecki said part of the goal of customizing the gowns is “so that every woman knows that her gown is something special and not like anybody else’s.”

Humecki garners his design and construction experience from working with Los Angeles–based designer Kevan Hall and the legendary Bob Mackie, fitting costumes in the film and television industry, and working with celebrities and Hollywood elite at the Versace and Lagerfeld boutiques, Neiman Marcus and Lili et Cie.

Nassani is a fashion photographer and producer of fashion editorials and advertising shoots.

“The Great Gatsby” collection, which will be initially made-to-order for private clients, will launch for Fall. Humecki and Nassani also plan to launch a ready-to-wear collection for Spring ’07.
