Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall '06: Directive West A-List L.A.

Los Angeles-based buying office Directives West set its sights on Fall ’06 trends when it presented its A-List L.A. runway show at the California Market Center.

Directives West owners Sandy Richmond and Sandy Potter set up a tent in the lobby patio and roped off a portion of the lobby for their guests, who included retailers, manufacturers and industry executives.

On the runway, the key trends included the next generation of jeans, which will take on new wash techniques that is intended to give denim a subtle shimmer or the slick look of leather. Other trends included ’80s-style jersey mini dresses with deep V-necklines and bold rugby stripes. There also were plenty of military-inspired looks, chunky embroidered details and graphic-print dresses. Accessories included hipster belts, leggings and slouchy handbags.

The show featured more than 150 brands, including segments devoted to labels such as Jak & Rae, Suss Designs, Yves Castaldi, Indian Rock, T’s By Topshop and Alvin Valley. —Alison A. Nieder
