Rock & Republic Joins Indy 500

Feeling the need for speed, Los Angeles–based premium- denim maker Rock & Republic will sponsor the Vision Racing team of the Indy Racing League in May. As part of the deal, the blue jeans maker will be the primary sponsor of Vision Racing’s No. 90 car in the May 28 running of the Indianapolis 500. The car will be painted with Rock & Republic’s logo.

Tony and Laura George and actor Patrick Dempsey own Vision Racing. “We are extremely excited to have this opportunity to partner with such a progressive and dynamic company as Rock & Republic,” Tony George said.

For the denim maker, which is known for its risqueacute; fashion shows and rock-inspired jeans, joining “the greatest spectacle in racing” was a no-brainer. “What’s cooler than an Indy car doing 200 miles an hour around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway? Nothing,” Michael Ball, Rock & Republic’s chief executive officer and head designer, said in a prepared statement.

The Indy 500 will be broadcast live on national television, giving millions of viewers a glimpse of the Rock & Republic logo as it zips by.
