TALA Celebrates 62nd Year at Playday

After a round of golf and a day of camaraderie, members of the Textile Association of Los Angeles celebrated its 62nd anniversary of incorporation on May 12 with a dinner overlooking the verdant golf course at the Los Robles Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

City Girl’s Ron Perilman took the top prize in a putting contest sponsored by QST. Prizes such as pro-shop gift certificates, golf equipment, Dodgers tickets, cordless phones and coffee makers were raffled off to raise money for TALA’s charitable activities, including its annual Christmas party and scholarship fund.

The group raised nearly $400 to kick off its fundraising for the Christmas party for local boys and girls clubs and after-school programs.

Birthday wishes were sung to TALA members Vic Zamparelli and Michael Goldman.

And Capital Factor’s Hank Kalin landed TALA’s “Harvey Brown” award, which is given to the member who personifies the spirit of Playday.

“I can’t think of an event he missed,” said TALA President Hal Kaltman when he presented Kalin with the award. “At every TALA Playday, he plays a round of golf then goes home to get his wife and brings her to dinner.” —Alison A. Nieder
