B.Son: Rebecca Beeson Dresses the Fellas

San Francisco womenswear designer Rebecca Beeson is taking her casual-chic aesthetic to the menswear market with a new collection called B.Son.

“Designing a men’s line was a natural transition from the success of the Rebecca Beeson line,” Beeson said. “The concept of comfortableyet- pulled-together dressing is just as applicable for modern men as it is for women. Guys today realize that comfortable does not have to mean sloppy. The B.Son collection helps fill this need.”

The 25-piece line will launch for Spring 2007, with first deliveries beginning in December. Beeson is producing most of the collection in San Francisco. Made from Supima/ Modal jersey and cotton shirting fabrics, the collection includes casual pieces with thoughtful details. The tight collection includes tees, tanks and polos, as well as hoodies and cardigans. Beeson included a few woven pieces including shirts, pants and a tailored vest. The easily layered pieces are offered in colors that range from rich vegetable shades to cool industrial hues. Beeson offers a twist on hoodies by offering versions with slim fits and short sleeves. Another style has a button-front and a rib-knit placket. A video conveying the B.Son lifestyle and customer is available on the designer’s Web site, www.rebeccabeeson.com.

Wholesale prices range from our $15 for a basic tank top to $145 for a tailored vest.

Beeson employed the same philosophy in designing B.Son as she does for her signature women’s collection.

“The B.Son line is based on the same tenets as the Rebecca Beeson women’s collection,” she said. “Looks can go from day to night and can really be transformed depending on how they are styled.”

The B.Son customer is similar in style to the Rebecca Beeson customer.

“The B.Son man is one who would date a Rebecca Beeson customer!” said the designer. “She is casual but sexy, and he is a complement to her. He dresses in a traditional manner with an urban twist—maybe just a little edgy and unexpected.”
