L.A. Fashion Week Spring '07: Frankie B.

Daniella Clarke’s sexy lowest-of-the-low-cut jeans made her line, Frankie B., famous. But for her Oct. 16 fashion show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City, Calif., she went with 1970s glam rock and raised the waistband north to kiss the navel.

As the wife of Gilby Clarke, guitarist for the rock band Supernova and former guitarist of Guns N’ Roses, Daniella Clarke has always been inspired by the rock-star lifestyle. “The whole thing with rock ’n’ roll is freedom: freedom to be wild, freedom to do what you want,” she said.

Darling eyelet baby-doll dresses were given the rock-star treatment with leather details and wild zebra-print flourishes for a 1980s hair-band twist. Glamorous highwaisted glitter jeans created a long-legged silhouette, and shimmering knit tops sparkled under the arena spotlights. Clarke revived her men’s line, inspired by her husband, and paired dark skinny jeans with black collared shirts, ties and blazers for a straight-edge punk attitude.

For the finale, Clarke unveiled Frankie B.’s new Her2 jean, modeled by breast cancer survivors. The designer created the Her2 jean to raise awareness about the HER2 form of breast cancer. One hundred percent of the profits from Her2 jeans sales will be donated to the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization. —Rhea Cortado
