Mike & Millie Split

After a five-year partnership, Mike Davie and Millie Troll of Mike & Millie in the California Market Center have split to start separate showrooms.

The Mike & Millie showroom was a mix of contemporary, stylish updated and bridge market clothing lines.

While Davie still carries updated lines in his new showroom, Strategy L.A., he now also steers toward the contemporary market and “fun, fast fashion.” Davie said he noticed the crossover updated and contemporary lines he carried were taking on a contemporary look while staying true to an updated fit.

“The general marketplace is headed in the contemporary market fashion area,” Davie said. “They’re demanding style no matter what the age.”

Strategy L.A. carries lines such as Hart and Huntington, Me!, Nara Camicie, Saforeacute;, Skinnie Minnie, Vanilla Sugar, European Culture, Ula Paso, A.Z.I. Jeans, Shirt Passion, Gazebo, Nahui Ollin, Chilli Pepper, Linda Segal, Interlud, Satilde;o Paulo, Paramita and Peace of Us.

Troll teamed up with Vickie Edwards, whom she met through shared customers, to open The Luxe Showroom. Edwards previously worked as a wholesale representative for Laundry by Shelli Segal and various other clothing lines.

Troll describes her customer as the “universal” woman: the baby boomer who is aging but still wants to look sharp. She said missy and updated markets are not stylish enough for her target market, but contemporary looks better suit the baby boomer’s daughter. The “universal” and bridge lines in Troll’s showroom therefore fall somewhere between the missy and contemporary markets, with fashionable, age-appropriate clothes taking women from the office through the weekend.

“The stores that we deal with, they don’t dress quite as young [and] trendy,” said Troll, who carries Anac, Caron Miller, Difference America, Drama, Gregrave;ge, Mansion & Bees, Rosner and Rodier.
