San Francisco Fashion Week '06: Katherine Noyes

Old-fashioned glamour is one of the key themes to the line that designer Katherine Noyes launched last year. “I think of the starlets in Hollywood and what they are wearing and put new twists to it. I have a resurgence of lace and femininity and grandma’s closet jewelry,” said Noyes, who worked for several years for Old Navy as an assistant designer, preproduction manager and production manager before setting out on her own. Noyes’ daytime looks included a seersucker blouson strapless dress with a printed silk sash tie and a cotton voile spaghetti-strap dress with pintuck details at the center. Her nighttime looks centered on flowy fabrics, such as a champagne- colored silk charmeuse dress with a draped chiffon bodice and beaded appliqueacute;, and a black silk satin halter dress with topstitch piecing detail and a vintage brooch at the center front. A silk chiffon drape-neck gown with a low back and hand-beaded appliqueacute;s looked ready for a red carpet walk.
