Anti-Dumping Duty

The U.S. Commerce Department placed an anti-dumping duty on polyester staple fiber imports from China after discovering two large Chinese suppliers—Ningbo Dafa Chemical Fibers Company and Far Eastern Industries Shanghai—had higher-than-average dumping margins on polyester stable fiber. The Commerce Department recently concluded a year-long investigation after receiving complaints from American polyester fiber producers DAK Americas LLC in Charlotte, N.C., Nan Ya Plastics Corp. America in Lake City, S.C., and Wellman Inc. in Shrewsbury, N.J. The three American companies filed a petition with the International Trade Commission (ITC) and Commerce Department. The U.S. International Trade Commission will make the final determination on the extent of injury in the matter.
