San Francisco Fashion Week '07: Missing Piece

Uniqueness was the operative word for Missing Piece, a niche show that was founded in 2004 by owner and artist-representative Danielle Cohen. It consists of creations by fashion and costume designers who work on a one-on-one basis to find the right design for everyone, from fashionistas to film producers.

Four artists presented eight pieces each that were long on creativity and novelty.

Lara Grant’s “Home” collection employed felt for her angular-looking dresses, skirts and evening gowns.

Jeremy Parr’s “Madness” menswear collection had an insouciant air for his lightly constructed men’s suits.

Monica Wontorski took her inspiration from the Girl Scouts for her “Scout Girl” collection, using badges and troop numbers to decorate vests, dresses and coats.

Molly Rebuschatis used ruffles, feathers and ribbons to get her dress collection together. Particularly alluring was a giant yellow patent-leather bow that served as a slim top to go with a cute bubble miniskirt. —Deborah Belgum
